Farage MP shows a curious voting record

Nigel Farage MP (Clacton/Reform UK) has entered Parliament after a historic run at trying at the same time as winning in European elections only to get us out. This means his potential is no longer a theory but has to become a reality.

As far as Parliamentary business goes, the assessment of character and performance is the biggest effort in town. No other aspect of Politics in the chamber has such an importance as this. And after an intense, extended period in trying to get there, Farage MP has to prove it was all worthwhile after all.

Looking at his voting record so far, this is the part that’s not keeping up with his reputation. Reform UK have a unique political platform, but in many respects it cannot be so different to others. The need to build a promise into the system leads to tactical moves to make sure vital elements get there first.

Farage MP has so far voted against the House on a majority of occasions since July 2024, and only clocks up eleven times on which he’s agreed with the carrying vote. The issues on the winning side include decided opinions on border security, enterprise, and the Lords. These are things he’s known for. The concern is it’s too narrow a base.
