DOGE, or the Department of Government Efficiency, is one of President Trump’s eye-catching initiatives. Initially it wasn’t clear if it was a gimmick invented by Elon Musk.
The reality is it’s a real Department of the US government. The former, the United States Digital Service, is now under DOGE, and it reports directly to the President’s office.
Its focus is on digital services and software, and a new website provides updates to show what savings have been made so far, as part of its overall mission of modernisation.
