The Chagos Islands came up again. It was to note the tune of £18 billion that Kemi Badenoch MP (North West Essex/Conservatives) says is due for a Mauritian bank account.
She calls it an “immoral surrender” that is only meant for the benefit of “North London lawyers” so they “can boast at their dinner parties”. It didn’t go down well.
Thursday
Lord Bates (Conservative) made a case for the elderly in the Lords. He noted that “the Rolling Stones are still touring”, and for young people to “swagger like Jagger” would be a challenge.
