Nigel Farage MP (Clacton/Reform UK) has said he’s going to stand for re-election in his own constituency to prove a point that the ‘establishment’ doesn’t care about him. It isn’t a new phenomenon in Farage’s terms, and this battle with fat cats across Westminster is only the latest in a run of complaints back and forth.
Lord Heseltine, a longstanding Tory grandee, is one such voice shouting from the rooftops against Reform UK and all that ‘Nazi Nigel’ represent. His views are allowed an airing because he’s a figure of UK conservatism. But his articles in newspapers and online suggest an aversion to homegrown, domestic achievements that Farage & Co. bring in bucketloads.
Heseltine is a part of the establishment, too, however, and Farage is fighting back against the settled, closeted notions of such old hat supremacists as he. He’s dispproved people across the spectrum by getting elected to Parliament back in 2024, and what an achievement it was at the time. His feeling is a re-set is needed to get his career – and life – back on track.
