  • Prime Minister’s Questions (2 July)

  • Exclusive: Lowe contact revealed

In an exclusive for Conservative News Site, a criminal contact of Rupert Lowe MP has been spotted in Reading, Berkshire.

    A criminal suspect

In March Lowe was spotted trying to make contact with him using a “Local Gesture”. It’s known as a criminal secret handshake.

  • Westminster Week: Normal times

    Wednesday

It’s acrimonious. The leaders are away. Their posts are now occupied. It’s a battle for supremacy at Prime Minister’s Questions.

It’s unlikely either will concede. Labour and the Tories don’t like each other at the moment. It’s clear in the absence of their leaders.

    Thursday

It’s a busy day in Parliament. There are school groups. There are MP’s still debating – even if a weekend is close at hand.

  • Westminster Week: Small changes

    Tuesday

Due to an amendment, it’ll be easier to abort a child at any stage of pregnancy. It pleases those who think it’s necessary. However, some will still feel a need to pray.

  • Caught: Fascist Estate “Militant Man”

In an exclusive for Conservative News Site, a suspect believed to have fought for Fascist Estate, nicknamed “Militant Man”, has been spotted in Reading, Berkshire.

    A suspect

He’s believed to have strategised against Parliament, and in particular the House of Commons. It happened during the latter part of the reign of Queen Elizabeth 2.

  • Westminster Week: Good intentions

    Monday

It’s Strategic Defence Review day, and Sec. for Defence John Healey MP (Rawmarsh and Conisbrough/Labour) is out swinging. He says it’s a lifesaver of a document, meant to keep our Armed Forces afloat.

He calls it “a vision for the next ten years, and beyond,” but beyond that it’s not clear what it’s for. Ukraine is fighting Russia. Russia is fighting Ukraine. It’s a shop floor aside from it.

Healey says, “We will spend what we need to deliver this spending review.” Sure, so would anybody. The clarity needed is what it’s for. What are the interests of the UK overseas, and how does it help? It’s not clear.

    Wednesday

Prime Minister’s Questions is an energetic event at times. Today, the Leader of the Opposition dispatched a flurry of criticisms.

She says he’s “not stabilised the economy”; it’s “chaos, chaos, chaos”; and all “announcements, with no detail”. It makes politics look like a tragic affair.

  • Westminster Week: Brow-beating

    Wednesday

Kemi Badenoch MP (North West Essex/Conservatives), Leader of the Opposition, is accused by the Prime Minister of “talking the country down”. She says it “laughable”, saying the Tory record is better than his.

  • Westminster Week: Getting the job done

    Monday

It’s the day of the Government’s Immigration White Paper, a long-awaited if not over-hyped event for the failure to do it before. Yvette Cooper MP (Pontefract, Castleford, and Knottingley/Labour), our Home Secretary, is confident with her notes but there’s a feeling in the House it needs to go further.

Jo White MP (Bassetlaw/Labour) is eager to “stop the reliance on imported workers from abroad”, although how it’s done to completion is not clear. It’s for Max Wilkinson MP (Cheltenham/Liberal Democrat) to say it’s not a time to bring up “divisive cultural issues”, such as the Prime Minister’s “island of strangers” quip.

As the Border Security, Asylum, and Immigration Bill continues its way through Parliament, before Royal Assent, Jeremy Corbyn MP (Islington North/Independent) is a reliable witness to human rights.

A Home Office Minister, Angela Eagle MP (Wallasey/Labour), supports his assertion, saying cases should be seen by “merit”, not calling people terrorists, or assuming the claim is fake.

    Wednesday

The Prime Minister is keen to burnish his credentials as a new force in UK trade. Meanwhile, the official opposition brush it off, saying his recent tariff deal with the US is “tiny”.

  • Westminster Week: Power plays

    Wednesday

Kemi Badenoch MP (North West Essex/Conservatives) berated the Prime Minister for his lack of policies to lower energy prices.

“Pensioners are poorer and colder because of his decisions. All the while, energy has got more expensive for everyone”

However, Sir Keir Starmer MP (Holborn & St Pancras/Labour) is resolute his Net Zero policies will do it nicely.

  • Reform UK back to strength in Parliament

Sarah Pochin’s win in the Runcorn and Helsby by-election has led to Reform UK getting its first female MP in the House of Commons.

It’s a bonus as it recovers from the loss of Rupert Lowe MP (Great Yarmouth/Independent), following abuse allegations.
