Year End

  • A year to remember

The last year is a sorry record…

    News

The frantic pace of change at the top has left many clambering for some sense of perspective. It’s not easy to call out the criminal in you and narrate your policy program at the same time. However, it’s worth doing – if only for the pay packet.

    Leadership

The job of stating and restating your case as more and more show a sincere interest has become an important job to do in the UK this year. It’s Nigel Farage MP, Zack Polanski, and Jeremy Corbyn MP that have steered this course this year.

    International

As Israel battles on, the world has taken unction with everything it has done. It’s every move is summed up in one word: “genocide”. It’s been repeated so often it might be on your Christmas card this year. It wouldn’t be surprising.

    Celebrity

We haven’t lost track of the celebrity happenings of late, and considering it’s the same people every time reaching the same milestones as everybody else, we’re unlikely to.

    World

The disarray felt everywhere is reflected in most people’s lives, especially over the confusion of who does what. It’s not a job title that helps. It’s not an office that helps. It’s not even an introduction. It’s my question that helps.

  • A year to remember

The last year has gone with more bang than bite

    Politics

The political scene exploded with Reform UK’s rise. It asserted itself on the scene with an unexpected win. It got five MP’s and according to its own records ends having sailed past 150,000 members.

It was also a good year for Sir Keir Starmer MP (Holborn and St Pancras/Labour), who managed to make it to Number 10 without a scratch. He won 411 seats, a landslide victory in Labour political history.

    Culture & Society

The Channel Crossings took precedence again despite a changeover of power. It remains high on the priority list of Labour ministers. It’s a challenge the UK seems able to overcome.

    Religion

The Archbishop of Canterbury that saw in the year, Justin Welby, resigned by the end of it. Maybe it was too tough for him, what with the waves of change and all that. Or maybe it was a child abuse scandal.

    Royalty

There’s no change in status on the horizon for any member of the Royal Family, despite the relentless headlines. Maybe they’ve took enough already, or perhaps they’re tired of it as well.

    Public Life

It’s also been a year that left us bereft of talent. If the fabled far right trend for much longer, it’ll take an Xmas single to top this year.
