The mystique of some people’s roles is enough to lend it a closeted appeal in general life. The opportunistic runs or the infrequent appearances in public makes it an enigma. In itself this opens up our Intelligence & Security services in particular to critique. This is the sort that asks for accountability and begs for answers to common questions.
The recent appointment of a new, female head of MI6 has raised the issue again. The introduction of someone at the top of a shadowy network isn’t helpful in itself. It may suggest the type of character that’s willing to sit around and chat or do a bit of espionage work. It doesn’t explain what that work is – or what goes wrong, if it does.
In recent months, this site has covered some of the major controversies that have been bubbling at the surface of UK citizen Journalism for some time. This is the claim that the head of MI5 is a business criminal, and the head of MI6 is a Labour activist.

The point in either is a claim of a group detected in wider circles that underpin attempts to boost its cause in and of Intelligence & Security circles. The combination of these makes for a more potent attack on integrity and increases the gains that may be had either way.
While it’s likely neither heads are seriously implicated in either plot in this way at this time, the truth is the schemes are out there. The knowledge of them pervade and concern may increase over time. This leads to speculation, and to a sincere search for answers.
