It’s a bad start to the week if your record is already under scrutiny, and it was just so for Conservatives today as they were pulled up short by Labour MP’s for their record on immigration, calling it “chaotic” at least twice. It’s an ongoing dispute between party’s at the moment, and it’s clear more than a few want to make their feelings known about it.
Tuesday
The issue of public finances is coming up often, despite a lag time between the general election, and a budget. Olivia Bailey MP (Reading West and Mid Berkshire/Labour) referred to a “public spending inheritance” left by the Tories, a controversial statement but in line with present party sentiment.
Wednesday
If farming is debated, it’s likely it’ll be pointed out as our primary source of food. It was brought up by Jo White MP (Bassetlaw/Labour), who wants “pride put into British food”, which is achieved by focusing on “seasonal food”, as she pointed out.
Thursday
A debate on “Improving Public Transport” is ripe for both boredom and overindulgence. It’s a choice, however, if MP’s turn out. Actually, more than three came along today. It’s an impressive showing for an issue that’s high on the public’s great checklist of complaints, but usually low in number when it comes to fixing it.
