  • King Harald V: Norway’s ‘old boss’

    The mourning of the Norwegian people for their late King is genuine. His absence will be felt. The ‘old boss’ of the Nordic country’s monarchy enjoyed huge popularity across Europe. He was known as a protector of borders, and rose to prominence privately for supporting his people’s right to argue for themselves about population demographics.

    In a time of waning media support for the institution of state, King Harald argued fully for the existence of leaders as a minority stake in proceedings.

    He loved his position because it gave him access to people, whom he met with glee. The perspective also enabled a sight of military matters that occupied much of his thinking. His concern for Europe was that it would rise to any occasion that may come its way.

    The news that the King and Queen might not live in Buckingham Palace at all isn’t a problem, but it reframes it for some people. These are those who believe that Royalty fits into a place that’s a part of the larger framework. Maybe it’s just a struggle to see it all from a distance.

    But this is exactly the point. No site that’s precious to King Charles himself is off-limits to the public. He’s just a different sort of person. We know the Queen likes comfort, too, so it makes sense for them to keep their living quarters away from view.

    I’m told the King likes a Monarchy to be on display, and it’s also his response diplomatically to the unique characteristics of other nations. Living in the same places isn’t a life that’s suited to anyone. Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth the 2nd did so to stay close for an Emergency.

    The King is in no such fear for the UK, and would also like to stick closer to other matters to make his Monarchy a more modern affair. This is to make things work for everyone, to keep interest alive, and to resist a temptation to give up. It’s admirable to have a work ethic like this.

    The Queen (Her Late Majesty) had a very disloyal Army, but they still attended to her to keep up appearances. They marched in public. They lived in the UK as if they had done nothing wrong. They were, in fact, ruining every institution that had a base in this country.

    They threatened every one of her Prime Ministers. They attacked public officials. They kidnapped staff of public institutions. They stole food. They robbed banks. They took children. They burned schools. They trashed cars. In essence, they were a fool card in a full deck.

    The issues transcended normal concerns. It draw widespread criticism and concern everywhere in the world. However, due to selfishness inherent in every nation, no one came to our aid. It was left to the brave people of the country to fight them off. The Army was then slowly and progressively transformed from the inside out.
