Nature

  • UK Jews leap forward into an eco future

It comes hand in hand for the major religions held to and practiced in the West to think of the environment. All of the three major faith traditions we have hold to a strong doctrinal tradition over our prehistory in terms of a concept of creation

It also makes sense to sympathise with nature and to see good – and potential – in all of it. It extends to times of crisis where ecological collapse, changes in climate, and endangerment of life sets in and intervention is needed.

The driving force behind EcoJudaism, for instance, is along the lines of having these concerns play a practical part in the practice of the Jewish faith. The organisation sets its store in life and practice, for example through its synagogue outreach initiative.

It seeks to reward innovations in physical places of worship and observance. The background and experience levels of those involved tells in the success they’ve found in finding places to make sure their good ideas make a real difference.
