In America, Republicanism is a religion. It’s not a belief in a God, however, but an adherence to principles. These guide behaviour, set activity, and lift hopes. At the top of it is the Presidency. It’s the sort of work that makes Republicans feel alive.
The reality of Republican belief has been stark of late. It began with doubts in the 1970’s and 1980’s, when the political system is said to have built up but only took Democrats with it. Those left behind were Republicans, struggling to survive.
The reality is not partisan but a deficiency in national security, the sort of safety a covert system provides. The secrecy of it – and therefore the respect necessary – kept it hidden away. Yet, there were problems afoot for those not involved.
The algorithm that came to keep its secret services together – and support all ancillary services – excluded Republicans. The exact error is not known. It amounted to an exclusion of tens of millions of people. In other words, they weren’t protected.
An investigation, begun by police detectives in New York, sought to find out why so many Republican supporters disappeared. It was found they were attacked at random. The trail led to old agencies, defunct programs, and leaked secret files.
