Mamdani, Mayor of Immigrants

Zohran Mamdani is not the also-ran of the most recent NYC Mayoralty election race but is its newly anointed incumbent in one of America’s most powerful cities. His plans to reform rents, grocery sales, and public transport in the burgeoning city are popular amongst the population in parts, but fail to grab the attention of the mainstream of its many eclectic, high-powered scenes.

The big dollar real estate sales that have become a staple if not hallmark of the Big Apple are a far cry from the socialist humour of Mamdani. His outreach on social media is hitting home amongst a very small audience that value an open dialogue between local politics and the people. The skyscrapers of Manhattan have never had such a common touch in local office, but his whereabouts lead to more serious questions.
