Strategy lies at the heart of Defence, and in the closed world of Military circles, we rely more on our brightest minds than anyone else when there’s a problem. It’s not the strong man or even the orator that helps us the most, but the quietest and sharpest.
In the case of Dover, the work was started straight away. Piracy doesn’t come up here as a serious issue, but it’s one of the highest priority contemporary matters. Worldwide, most security managers include sea-borne crime as part of their daily concerns. The UK is not an exception in this reality.

The effort to mark an end to Kaplan’s crime before it engulfed our nations in unknown ways is a matter of private record, but it’s believed to have included at least five planners. These worked to come up with ideas for the various responses needed to stop the large scale crime event from harming us.
As Defence becomes a subject of greater interest to people here, using our knowledge and emerging technologies will help to strategise and defeat other threats. The point is not to strike in whatever way possible, but to avoid conflicts of interest and use our strengths to stop every enemy.
