  • Putin rows back on what he says, but it still speaks

President Putin has rudely described Ukrainians as Nazi’s, but people still cosy up to this narcissistic leader as if he’s a moral hero. There’s no discernable effect on morality or goodness in Russian society, and yet he’s held up – quietly – as a strong man for liberal times.

Russia has one of the largest gay populations in all Europe, and yet this isn’t featured in the sermonising diatribes here. Putin himself is also famously a non-member of any church denomination. But the fact of it doesn’t occur to be important to religious chiefs back here.

The man himself appears to regard his tirades as mere statements. He’s obviously drunk the blue juice. In Europe, this isn’t true. Populations here don’t use language in a flippant manner, and at length, our worded contributions are supposed to mean much more. President Putin kids himself over the issue.

  • Int. bodies pursue simple aims

The UN and the EU both loom large on our respective horizons as international bodies. They epitomise a single goal which suggests the best intention to act on a backdrop of ongoing problems that are apparent in human societies.

However, while these pursue such noble theories they encounter detractors at every level. It’s been found their work is sometimes not compatible with the existence or motives of others. This can create conflict but it usually entails a separateness of parts.

The joining moment of one member can lead to assumptions about the trajectory of the overall project, and doubts are raised for those that dissent. This is natural conjecture but doesn’t reflect the reality as it unfolds for some partners.

  • UN rights need updating with new responsibilities

Francesca Albanese has only been a Special Rapporteur for the UN since 2022 and yet her critical outlook on State-led aims in particular is coming through in everything she says. In defence of the UN’s position that she now serves in, as such a prominent capacity and in particular a sensitive context as the Gaza conflict is, the import of her thinking is going to have ramifications.

It cannot be that a State in itself is just a figure of hate, and used by groups to calculate cold desires and intentions against us. The top-line word isn’t a separate definition of other things. It incorporates all legitimate activity.

The death of children is going to be a fact of the matter for reasons separate to a genocide-level of intense military activity – showing, not proving – that the human situation is tight there. The no-rules tactic of Hamas is a daily incitement of its manifestation there.

Horrible pictures and endless doctor reports have to be left aside for legitimate work to be done to spread knowledge and increase a coherent awareness. The existence of nations is at stake and the arguments of some can be forfeited.
