In an unsurprising trend, behemoth BBC News topped the world rankings for website visits in September this year. The heavily publicly funded outlet scored 986 million in global hits.
It covers both the .co.uk and .com iterations, the latter of which stands alone as a news outfit for worldwide audiences. Its news reporting is also translated into other languages.
