Enoch Burke remains at the centre of a row between his principal employer, Wilsons Hospital School in Ireland, and religious groups in the spiritually Catholic country.
Since 2022, on five occasions – including earlier this year – Burke has been imprisoned, at first for refusing to adhere to new rules about transgender identity in his role regarding a pupil, and then for his ongoing campaign to be reinstated to his role after dismissal.
Activists have claimed that pressure to conform to private changes in belief in a professional environment has led to complaints in situ that haven’t been listened to.
The treatment of Burke is of substantial concern to monitors that overlook such matters in the developed world, and particularly in Europe, because religious adherents are being targeted daily for their lack of enthusiasm to abide by ideas promoted as part of a predominantly Left political platform.
